IIPMB Centre Assam

IIPM Center, Jorhat was formed on June 24, 2007, by the then Chief Minister of Assam Shri. Tarun Gogoi in the presence of the Minister of State for Commerce, Shri. Jairam Ramesh, and the Minister of Industry, Government of Assam, Shri Pradyut Bordoloi.

Vision

Indian Institute of Plantation Management Center, Assam is “a unique center of excellence on plantations, commodities, and associated agri-business through globally accepted and ethically responsible research-based management training, education, and consultancy”.

Mission

The Center is committed to strengthening the plantation and the associated agri-business industry to enhance its competitiveness by continuous improvement in management excellence through training, education, research, and consultancy within Assam and the North-Eastern region.

Programmes conducted:

  1. Reach-out Programs
    Over 350 programs for the benefit of 10,000+ stakeholders from North-East and West Bengal regions that included Small and Medium Tea Growers, Corporates, Owner Managers, Tribal Communities, Presidents, Chairmen, Secretaries, and other office bearers of Plantation Associations, and other stakeholders.
  2. Seminars and Workshops
    240 seminars and workshops as part of the Tea Planters Productivity Council and Grassroots Workforce & Governance Management for the benefit of various stakeholders from Assam and the North-Eastern region.
  3. Professional Certificate Programs (PCPs)
    PCPs on Tea Estate Management, Labour Management & Industrial Relations, and Tea Tasting and Management for fresh graduates and newly recruited trainee managers of 30 to 45 days duration.
  4. Research and Consultancy Projects
    Facilitated various Research & Consultancy Projects in the Assam and North-Eastern regions undertaken by faculty members of IIPM Bangalore.

IIPM Centre, Jorhat Resources

Building provided by Tocklai Experimental Station, Jorhat, with well equipped Knowledge Resource Centre comprising of library, computer and guest house are utilized for the activities of IIPM Centre.

 

Research Activities of IIPM Centre, Jorhat

The Centre will have a strong research focus on policy, managerial and operational issues of the North Eastern sector. IIPM Centre will undertake research projects in frontier areas of concern at the industry, regional and global levels, sponsored by corporate organizations, national and international bodies. Centre’s intellectual capital in the form of several papers is available in various edited volumes, periodicals, chronicles and leading journals of national and international repute.
