1. National Center for Export Management Research and Studies (NCEMRS):
As part of the Spice Exporters Entrepreneurship Facility (SEEF), NCEMRS conducts capacity-building, training, and research activities in the domain of spices exports. It was established to cater to the need for exports of spice commodities and value-added products from India.
Objectives
- To conduct short-term Export Management Development Programs (EMDPs) based on stakeholders’ needs.
- To undertake Professional Certificate Programs (PCPs) of 30 to 45 days duration and Diploma Programs of 6 to 9 months duration in the spices export domain.
- To undertake Research and Consultancy in the area of Export Business Management (EBM), Financial Investment, and associated disciplines.
- To establish “Export Business Incubation” for the benefit of the new-age start-ups by providing management training and/or space for growing young business professionals through mentoring, seed funding, etc.

2. Center for Export Promotion in Agri-plantation:
IIPM has been entrusted to establish “Agri-Export Cell (AEC) with the government of Karnataka organization KAPPEC (Karnataka State Agricultural Produce Processing and Export Corporation Limited), Bengaluru.
Activities of the Cell
- To identify professionals for the AEC to accomplish the goals of AEC as envisaged by KAPPEC (3 Consultants & 2 Data Analysts).
- To act as partner institution with KAPPEC in order to facilitate FarmerProducer Companies (FPCs)/Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs)/Self Help Groups (SHGs) and entrepreneurs for export from Karnataka.
- To guide the cell in disseminating information regarding potential export markets for exporters from Karnataka and other pre-requisites for export of productsfrom Karnataka to targeted countries.
- To facilitate with export promoting agencies who can handhold and assist the exporter and export firms etc.
- To develop a system for liaison with Central and State Govt. Institutions, viz., APEDA, DGFT, Customs, EXIM, ECGC, approved third parties for export procedures such as Quality certification, documentations, etc.
- The Agri-Export Cell shall source and maintain databases of prospective agripreneurs, i.e., the Farmer Producer Organisations, Farmer Groups, SHGs who are in different phases of export business value chain and also the existing Agri-exporters/export agencies and consultants data.
- The Export Cell would act as interface between KAPPEC and the various stake holders of Karnataka in export domain, monitor their activities and submit periodical reports on the same.
- IIPMB shall guide AEC to coordinate in organising buyer –seller meets to be held (along with appropriate resource persons) for the beneficiaries for export facilitation.
- IIPMB would facilitate the AEC periodic dissemination of export related information and export documentation to the stakeholders of export domain.
- The institutional mechanism of Agri-export cell would actively involve IIPMB for its guidance and operate under its overall supervision.

3. Center for Tea Tasting and Marketing (CTTM)
The CTTM combines the discipline of professional tea tasting, tea business management, and marketing, to address the emerging needs of professional tea tasters and sommeliers in the tea industry. It offers national and global career opportunitiesin reputed tea companies, brokerages, tea buyers, and blenders.
Objectives
- To provide technical and functional aspects of tea tasting and blending
- To inculcate marketing knowledge and skills related to tea tasting

4. The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE):
The CIE is a pioneering initiative of IIPM to promote entrepreneurship in the Indian Coffee sector. The Coffee Board has supported the establishment of CIE-IIPM to promote Coffee entrepreneurship through a set of focused activities. The Centre’s activities have led to the establishment of new businesses in the Indian Coffee Sector and contributed to wealth creation and employment generation. The Centre also partners with existing Coffee-related businesses in their diversification and expansion-related activities.
Objectives
- To design and conduct capacity-building and training programs to promote and develop coffee entrepreneurship among various stakeholder groups
- To mentor and handhold existing and potential entrepreneurs and IIPM students, to establish coffee and related businesses
- To maintain, operate and share infrastructure that would provide technical training through Coffee Technology Lab (CTL) to potential and existing coffee entrepreneurs
- To establish and maintain a resource center to enable knowledge creation and sharing in the area of coffee entrepreneurship
- To integrate coffee entrepreneurship into the academic programs of IIPM and, promote coffee entrepreneurship among students of IIPM
Ongoing Projects under the Center
- Livelihood Business Incubation: IIPM has been allocated three Livelihood Business Incubators (LBIs) by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, one for its Bengaluru campus, and the remaining two for its Assam, and Andhra Pradesh Centers. The LBIs have been designed to deliver a comprehensive program on micro and small enterprise development and capacity building on techno-managerial aspects in the selected Agri-plantation commodities in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Karnataka. The target groups include farmers, planters, students, tribal communities, women, and rural youth.
- Business Incubation: IIPM has been awarded two Business Incubation projects by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, one at its Bengaluru campus, and the other at its Assam Center. The purpose of the Business Incubators is to support entrepreneurs in the domain of Agribusiness, food, and allied domains by developing their businesses, especially in the initial stages. Incubation support includes providing technological facilities and advice, network and linkages, lab facilities, mentoring, and advisory support.

5. Centre of Excellence in Sustainability & Climate Change (CoE-SCC)
Plantation commodities are one of the major driver’s of India's economy providing livelihoods to millions of households while also being a source of forex earnings. Challenges like unsustainable practices and climate change require innovative Nature-based solutions (NBS) which may attract Carbon Credits and/or Green Credits, fostering sustainability and resilience in the sector. Hence, the CoE-SCC is established at IIPMB to cater to the sustainability dimensions in the Agri-food,plantations, Horticulture and allied sector (APHA).
Objectives
- Develop a comprehensive 'Integrated Farming' approach, focusing on all sustainability dimensions (Environmental, Economic, Social, Governance) within the Plantation sector and APHA.
- Conduct collaborative research on ESG metrics, emphasizing environmental sustainability, energy, carbon accounting, and biodiversity, utilizing interdisciplinary expertise.
- Offer tailored capacity building programs and certification courses for various stakeholders in APHA, enhancing understanding of sustainability principles.
- Provide executive training on ESG metrics and reporting frameworks mandated by GoI bodies like SEBI and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
- Formulate policy recommendations to promote better Land Use, encouraging practices such as intercropping, energy plantations, and eco-tourism, while integrating APHA with industry.
